George H. Sweeney


Professor Sweeney received his Bachelors degree in 1972 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with a double major in economics and physics, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University in 1974 and 1978 respectively. His academic research has focused on theories of firms’ responses to regulation, the effects on economic welfare of government regulation of businesses, effects of random fluctuations in prices of a product, and propensities for expenditures to reduce the probability of a loss. Professor Sweeney joined the Deans Office in 1992, where he is responsible for the College’s budget, staff and financial matters, and statistical work related to undergraduate admissions.
