The Registration Process

Students must meet with their faculty advisers in order to have the Adviser Approval Hold removed from their registration account before they will be permitted to enroll in courses. Students should review with their adviser their progress toward the completion of AXLE requirements, major and (optional) minor requirements, and general degree requirements. Additionally to register, students’ accounts must be current (not overdue). Students should be aware that registration holds may be active on their enrollment accounts. Active holds appear on the Student Landing Page in YES. Reasons for registration holds include failure to submit a Consent to Release Academic Information (Buckley) form, failure to declare a major on time, and failure to provide immunization records to Student Health. All holds must be lifted by the appropriate office(s) before a student can enroll in classes.

Registration Period

YES will open to students about a month before Enrollment Windows open for the upcoming term. Students can utilize this month to add courses to their carts and to meet with their advisers to discuss schedule options.

Students may enroll in courses ONLY during their Enrollment Windows.

Tuition, fees, and all other charges must be cleared one week before the beginning of the semester. These dates are specified in the University Calendar and on the Office of Student Accounts website. Course registrations may be canceled for anyone whose financial account is past due.

Registration ends at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the final open enrollment period.

PRE-REQUISITES AND CO-REQUISITES

The registration program does enforce pre-requisites and co-requisites. A pre-requisite is a course that must be taken (or a condition that must be satisfied) before a student can enroll in another course. A co-requisite is a course that must either be taken concurrently with another course or have been taken before a student can enroll in another course. Current enrollment in a course can satisfy requisites for courses in the subsequent semester. Students are subject to post-enrollment requisite checking to make sure that the requisite is truly met by the time the next semester’s classes begin.

If a student does not meet the requisite for a course, only the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the department or program offering the course can grant approval for the student to be enrolled without the requisite. The DUS can work within the department or with the Office of Academic Services to enroll the student to the course.
