Condemning Hate, Reaffirming VU's Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Vanderbilt’s Program in Jewish Studies will join with the Office of the Dean of Students, Vanderbilt Student Government, the Office of the University Chaplain and Religious Life, the Office of Greek Life and Vanderbilt’s Hillel, Chabad, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, NPHC, Multicultural Leadership Council, and Interfaith Council to stand with the brothers or Alpha Epsilon Pi, whose house was hatefully defaced with swastikas earlier this month.

AEPi will be leading the assembled in a walk to remember the victims of the Nazi genocide, to condemn antisemistism and bigotry, and to affirm the values of diversity and inclusion that Chancellor Zeppos reaffirmed in his statement of March 19:

“So many in our community have contributed to making Vanderbilt a welcoming place for students, faculty, staff and visitors from all backgrounds and faiths. Our commitment to a diverse and inclusive culture is a bedrock principle that sustains our shared missions to educate, discover and heal. Our excellence is built on this solid foundation of mutual respect and shared commitment, and whenever any member of our community is the victim of hatred or bigotry, we are all wounded and must cry out against these hateful acts.”

The walk will begin at at 5:00 PM, Monday, March 30, at the AEPi House. The route will end at Kirkland Hall.
