Vanderbilt English Majors' Association
During the 2013 spring semester we are re-launching the Vanderbilt English Majors' Association! This organization is meant to heighten the sense of community with the undergraduates in our major. We want to celebrate how awesome it is to be an English Major by holding end of semester parties, meet-and-greets with professors, and sharing our opinions on the major. Event announcements will be posted on the English website event page and sent out to the major list serve. We look forward to strengthening the English community on campus!
I look forward to seeing everyone,
Hello English Majors and Minors,
With the help of Prof. Gottfried, Prof. Schoenfield, and Dean Dever, the EMA is hosting an alumni symposium next Friday Oct. 4th from 2:30-4pm in Buttrick 101. Alumni will share their experiences with finding jobs with their English majors and give advice about how to start making connections now. You will hear from alumni working in multinational management consulting firms, journalism at news stations, attending Peabody college, as well as an entrepreneur running his own business in New York.
Also, Prof. Wollaeger will be answering questions for students interested in graduate school. So, whether you want to go onto grad. school or enter the work force after your time at Vanderbilt, you can get your questions answered at the symposium. Come with questions in mind, because the event is designed as an open forum for students to get the information they want!
Also...there will be sweets available after the event.
And, if you have class during any part of the symposium, it's totally fine to stop in and leave when you need.
Please come and support the English Major community. We need to see our fellow students at our events so that we can plan more helpful and fun events in the future!
